No waves. No cash. Total existential crisis. Malibu’s premier soul-surfer and professional beach bum, Steve Addington (Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey), lives a simple life: catch waves, stay barefoot, and remain permanently shirtless. But when he returns home from a world tour, his easygoing paradise wipes out. His long-time endorsement contract is bought out by corporate tech-mogul Eddie Zarno (Jeffrey Nordling), who wants to force the old-school purist into recording his moves for a high-tech virtual reality video game. Addington just wants to surf, but nature throws him the ultimate curveball—the Pacific Ocean goes completely dead.
