Beyond The Sea

Description

The music. The madness. The man. Driven by a childhood bout of rheumatic fever that left him living on borrowed time, Walden Robert Cassotto transforms himself into Bobby Darin (Kevin Spacey)—a musical powerhouse determined to be bigger than Frank Sinatra before he turns 25. Blending reality with showstopping musical fantasy, Beyond the Sea chronicles Darin’s meteoric rise from a sickly kid in the Bronx to a multi-talented chart-topper rule-breaker at the historic Copacabana night club. Along for the dizzying ride are his fiercely supportive family, including brother-in-law Charlie (Bob Hoskins) and sister Nina (Caroline Aaron), alongside his savvy manager "Boom Boom" Steve Blauner (John Goodman). At the absolute peak of his fame, Bobby captures the heart of Hollywood's ultimate good-girl sweetheart, Sandra Dee (Kate Bosworth). But as the changing, turbulent landscape of the 1960s threatens to leave his style of showmanship behind, Bobby must face his failing health, marital strains, and his own identity to reinvent himself one last time. Featuring Kevin Spacey performing Darin’s timeless hits—including "Splish Splash," "Dream Lover," and "Mack the Knife"—it is a dazzling celebration of a life lived out loud.
