The Sovereign's Servant

Description

Versailles, 1709. When an illegal, high-stakes aristocratic duel breaks out in the court of King Louis XIV (Dmitriy Shilyaev), the furious monarch hands down a unique punishment to the two French noblemen involved. Rather than execution, Charles de Brézé (Dmitry Miller) and Antoine de la Bouche (Valeriy Malikov) are stripped of their status and exiled to opposite ends of Europe. Their mission: to serve as military observers in the brutal war raging between Russia and Sweden. De Brézé is dispatched into the ranks of the progressive Russian Tsar, Peter the Great (Andrey Sukhov), while his fierce rival, de la Bouche, is sent to the camp of the ruthless Swedish King Charles XII (Ed Fleroff). As both men venture deep into hostile territory, their paths twist through a treacherous landscape of court conspiracies, local rebels, and the beautiful but mysterious Sharlotta de Monterras (Kseniya Knyazeva). Trapped on opposing sides of a massive geopolitical conflict, the two rivals must survive bloody skirmishes and the harsh wilderness. Ultimately, their personal vendetta and military duties collide in a spectacular, explosive showdown on the historic battlefield of the Battle of Poltava.
